Halloween Fun by Age
Little Ones: Ages 0–3
Start with San Pedro’s Halloween Storytime, which is specifically intended for babies and toddlers, or a short morning visit to The Point. The YMCA parade offers another brief daytime option. Follow your child’s pace and leave room for a nap break.
Preschoolers: Ages 3–5
Try The Point, Mall-O-Ween, the YMCA parade or San Pedro’s library trick-or-treat event. For an outdoor Halloween afternoon, consider an early visit to Riviera Village. AdventurePlex is an option only for potty-trained children who meet its age minimum of 4.
Big Kids: Ages 6–9
Look to Manhattan Beach’s carnival, AdventurePlex, Halloween on the Pier and CRAFTED for games, play or creative activities alongside seasonal fun. Mall-O-Ween also welcomes this age group.
Tweens: Ages 10–12+
Manhattan Beach’s carnival offers a haunted-house option, while Halloween on the Pier and Riviera Village work well for families with older children. AdventurePlex ends at age 12; Mall-O-Ween ends at age 10. Children older than 12 should choose events without those restrictions.
Prefer to Stay Indoors?
Mall-O-Ween at Del Amo is the clearest indoor candy-collecting choice, and San Pedro’s Halloween Storytime offers an indoor option especially for babies and toddlers. CRAFTED provides an indoor marketplace setting, while AdventurePlex offers a registered party at an indoor play venue for eligible children.
Indoor venues can make costume outings more comfortable on a warm or windy day. The YMCA confirms indoor lobby booths but does not describe the entire parade route. San Pedro’s library trick-or-treat route is also unspecified. Manhattan Beach’s carnival combines outdoor festivities with the indoor haunted house, so plan it as a mixed outing.
A Few Tips Before You Go
Check the official event page before leaving, especially for registration requirements, weather updates and activity fees. Bring a treat bag, water and comfortable costumes that let kids walk and play easily. Arrive within the advertised candy hours, remember that treats may run out, and choose the level of spooky fun that feels right for your child.
